“If John Waters and Pee Wee Herman had a Harajuku baby; that would be me.”
Ericka Clevenger is a female Director, Actor and Artist from Lincoln Nebraska. A total 90’s kid she got her start performing in fourth grade when she sang and danced to TLC’s, ‘Waterfalls’ in her elementary class talent show. Growing up in the burbs she cured boredom like every 90’s kid by playing Pogs, making home made VHS films with her sister and arm wrestling boys. She spent summers riding her bike, stuffing her bra, filming made up dances to her favorite songs, and watching ‘Now and Then’ on repeat. Unbeknownst to her at the time, all of these childhood moments would eventually lead her to her creative Los Angeles community almost a decade later.
Currently living and working in Echo Park, California; she can be found both in front and behind the camera creating colorful worlds where animals talk and people can time travel. Using a mix of film, video and stop-motion she builds sets and otherworldly characters to address political and social issues in a lighthearted manner. She likes worlds where grannies and teens wear the same fashion, gender is fluid and misfits are queens. If she ruled the world puppies would be president, you could eat ice cream for breakfast and no one would ever grow up.
Ericka’s directing work has been featured on Pitchfork, Noisey, Spin, Top Shop, Volcom Women’s, Glamour, XXL, NME Magazine, MTVU, DIY and LADYGUNN Magazine.
