Over the past year, Sita McVay's camera has captured her peers' opinions on sex, dating, and the ins and outs of small-town LGBTQ+ life. Now, with her latest video, Sita explores her thorniest topic yet: politics and religion.
Over the course of 3 1/2 minutes, Sita's friends--who range from pink-haired spiritual atheists to Mormons-by-birth with long blonde hair--explain the varied intricacies of their political and spiritual beliefs: how their opinions have shifted over time, whether they talk about politics and religion with their parents, and (of course!) what impact the election of Donald Trump has had on their beliefs. While not all of Sita's friends appear to agree on these two topics, they do seem to share a particularly important bit of common ground: an underlying sense of respect for people who are unlike them and a desire for a larger shared sense of understanding.
Sita McVay is a photographer and director from Fayetteville, Arkansas. She’s been called a prodigy, starting her photography at 11 years old, and is recognized for capturing stunning photographs that illustrate the essence of childhood.
