Jo Gaffney is a 17-year-old filmmaker from the Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia, working to create films that tell personal stories through striking visuals. She likes fantasy realism, where something could almost be apart of our own reality, but isn’t. She identifies as queer, and her scripts are primarily centered around people who consider themselves a part of the LGBTQ+ community because she believes there aren’t enough fairy tales that tell her own story. She also tries to cast as such, with casting queer folk as queer characters, because representation is essential.
