Be the change you wish to see in the world was the motto of my alma mater, James Madison University. (Go Dukes!) But sometimes it be overwhelming to try to figure out where to start, especially if you’re not already involved in political or non-profit causes. Good news: you can still help to make the world around you a better place by focusing on the little things.

Kindness is infectious. Even if you’ve just made one person’s night a little easier, that’s joy you’re putting out into the world.
You know the old saying: “The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago.” (You don’t? Well, get hip to it—our planet is dying.) The second-best time is right now. It may seem impossible to save the environment, but every little bit helps our future.
