As our President Elect, Donald Trump, is revving up to take his seat in the White House, it is important to remember his key values and his promises to the American people.  

Trump has been extremely vocal about his intention for immigrants, his feelings towards the Islamic people, and his plans for the future of women’s right to choose what happens to their own bodies. Trump has exhibited racist and sexist behavior and has been an advocate for sexual assault. 

With all of these promises, there are countless groups of people who will need all the support they can get. Here are just a few organizations who are in need of our support during these Trumptastic times:  

Planned Parenthood works rigorously to support women in providing them with safe and professional care for their reproductive health and sex education. KIND: Kids in Need of Defense is a leading organization that works to protect children who are entering the U.S. immigration system alone. They work closely with pro bono attorneys and corporations to ensure that no child appears in immigration court without high-quality legal representation. ACLU: American Civil Liberties Union is a union that has worked almost 100 years to protect, defend and preserve the individual right promised to the American people in the U.S. Constitution. ACLU has proven to be an advocate for equality and freedom; they fight for those who are being treated unfairly and whose rights have been taken away from them. Click here to donate. 

Emily’s List is a force of change and upholds the vision of maintaining a government that reflects the people it serves. This organization supports pro-choice Democratic women in obtaining leadership positions in America’s legislative bodies and executive seats. Since it first began in 1985, Emily’s List has supported in the successful election of over 100 pro-choice Democratic women to the House, 11 to governors' seats, and 19 to the Senate. NARAL: National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws work with a team of both women and men to protect reproductive freedom. The NARAL lobby the Congress, work with state affiliates, and push to elect lawmakers who will share and promote pro-choice values.  Click here to donate.  

WOAR: Women Organized Against Rape is an organization that upholds the vision of eliminating sexual violence. This organization works closely with individuals to provide treatment and support for those who have been victims of sexual assault. Border Angels is a nonprofit organization dedicated to maintaining and restoring social justice, humane immigration reform, and overall human rights. This volunteer run group works rigorously to educate the community through awareness programs and guided trips through the desert to place water along migrant crossing routes from the Mexican border to the U.S. Click here to donate. 

UWD: United We Dream brings together immigrant youth and creates a network for support and empowerment. The UWD team works to ensure dignity, humanity, and justice for all immigrants. Council on American-Islamic Relations is the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights organization. They work rigorously to ensure justice and mutual understanding of Islam and the Islamic people. NAACP: the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was first founded in 1909 when a group of individuals came together to put an end to the practice of lynching. This organization fights for equality and takes a stand against race-based discrimination. Crossroads Antiracism Organizing & Training is an organization committed to creating antiracist multicultural diversity within communities and institutions. This group organizes trainings and consultations in institutions to dismantle racism. Click here to donate. 

Running Start educates young women about the importance of politics and supports them in building leadership skills to jump start their political career.  This organization recognized the need to have more women in political office and believes in educating girls at a young age to prepare them for a successful political career.
