One of my favorite activities is exploring unfamiliar suburbs and documenting them through film photography. When isolation began, my adventures were put on hiatus and I was really stuck on what to create next. Stumbling across Nearness and the collage kits motivated me to get back on my feet and give the collage medium a go. I love that a stranger somewhere around the world has put together a stimulus of different visual elements and that I can rearrange them into something that connects with me and my experiences. Instead of going out, taking pictures, and pretty much forgetting about them afterwards, I like to go through my film archive with a new perspective and see how I can transform my old pictures into something new. So here's my collage kit, full of bits and pieces of old film pics I’ve taken. I hope you enjoy making your own artwork using these pages.
We recommend printing these pages out so you can use good old-fashioned scissors and glue to do some arts and crafts. When you're done, send a photo or a scan of your artwork to hello@nearnessproject.com. Happy collaging!
