It’s officially December! Time to take out the Christmas sweaters and prepare for those holiday parties. Men are getting fired left and right for "sexual misconduct" (lol, or just for being sexual predators, but, semantics), and our favorite Netflix shows are getting another season.

So, before you officially embark on your weekend, here are the top five things you need to know to stay informed:

1. Michael T. Flynn Expected to Plead Guilty

President Trump’s former national security advisor, Michael T. Flynn, is pleading guilty for lying to the F.B.I. about two conversations with the Russian ambassador. These conversations took place December of 2016. The results of today’s trial could implicate the President in the ongoing investigation concerning the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia during the 2016 election. Flynn also disclosed that he is cooperating with the special counsel's office.

2. Selena Gomez Gives Emotional Speech at Billboard Music Awards

Selena Gomez was honored as the Billboard Woman of the Year last night and gave a touching speech as she received her award. Gomez has had a whirlwind of a year: earlier this year, she needed a live-saving kidney replacement, and her best friend Francia Raisa stepped in to donate her kidney. Gomez used her speech as a chance to thank Raisa for “saving my life.” She stated that Francia should be the one getting this award, and even started crying when bringing up all that her BFF had done for her.

3.  Matt Lauer and John Lasseter Accused of Sexual Harassment

There is clearly a huge uprising going on right now with all of the sexual harassment claims coming out against powerful men, and Matt Lauer and John Lasseter are two of the most recent men to join the group. Matt Lauer has been fired from the Today Show as a result of these allegations. As for the other accused party, John Lasseter is the head of Pixar and Walt Disney animation studios, and right now everyone’s wondering how Pixar is going to come back from this blow. This revolution where women are finally speaking up over sexual harassment is really changing the way we view the people we see on TV every day.

4.  Stranger Things Renewed For Season 3

Stranger Things fans can rejoice with the news that the beloved series will be returning to Netflix for a third season. The show takes place in the made-up town of Hawkins, Indiana, where a secret government lab opens a door to another world known to as “the Upside Down”. The series has been a fan favorite since it begun, and the young stars (Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, etc.) are only part of the show’s charm.

5.  Republicans Have Votes to Pass the Tax Plan

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell confirmed today that the Senate has the necessary votes to pass the Republican tax plan: Senator Jeff Flake and Senator Steve Daines just came out in support of the bill. Lawmakers are now deliberating a scenario for a tax increase, including a raise in the overall corporate tax rate. This tax bill stands to devastate the American public, but there is still a chance to stop it: call your Senators at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to vote against this bill when it comes to a vote later today.
